Not much has changed on the tech style scene since Mark Zuckerberg introduced the forever 'je ne m'inquiete pas' look of jeans and a worn, shrunken hoodie. The city's residents are clearly ready for change as they lined up around the block for the Emerging Designers event on Friday. "Give us inspiration! Something, anything!?" they cried.
When the doors finally opened, San Francisco's young, eclectic mix of the city's most stylish men and women poured into a lofty industrial space, met by electronic tunes from the DJ, the local designers, fashion bloggers, and a fresh take on fashion.
The designers for women's fashion responded with simple, elegant pieces. A mix of modern and bohemian inspirations started a steady buzz and cheers from the crowd.
While I am impressed by simple, tailored suits and straight lines for men - it seems the youth in this city does not yet have a clear role model. Nonetheless, I'm somewhat intrigued by the menswear lines that are continually evolving to gradually meet the needs of the San Francisco clientele.
I cannot wait for tonight's conclusion to Fashion Week SF, when brands such as Apoteca, Anhuba, and my personal favorite - Betabrand - will show us an experienced and adventurous take on innovation in design. See you there...
